Narrative
ALICE, TX – Three people went to the hospital Monday after a three-vehicle collision involving two semis along the highway in central Jim Wells County.
The accident occurred at 2:45 a.m. on the southbound side of US-281 near County Road 29 in the city of Alice.
Police say that a southbound 18-wheeler overturned after a tire malfunction. A second semi-truck then collided with the first truck on the highway, injuring both the driver and a witness at the scene.
Both truck drivers, 48-year-old Ricardo Betancourt and 38-year-old Jeffrey Walker, went to the hospital with serious injuries.
Medics also transported the witness, 67-year-old Mitchell Reinitz, to the hospital in critical condition.
